CBSSports.com Hobey Baker Award Watch -- Week 4

As teams and players Quay Walker Jersey begin getting their legs under them, the action is heating up in college hockey acro s the country. Every team has played at least one regular-season game and the cream is rising to the top. There have been some really incredible individual performances in the early goings of the 2012-13 season, which makes lists like these harder and harder to make. One decision that wasnt hard was to keep Kyle Flanagan as the No. 1 player on the Hobey Watch for the second week. Though idle last weekend, Flanagan is still the nations leading scorer. BC sophomore Johnny Gaudreau and Minnesota junior Nick Bjugstad remain on the list. Bjugstad is the only player to have kept his name on the Hobey Watch for all four weeks so far.The newcomer is Denver junior Nick Shore, who has been scoring at a torrid pace for the Pioneers. He replaces Bentleys Brett Gensler on this week's Hobey Watch. 1. Kyle Flanagan St. LawrencePosition: ForwardCla s: SeniorHt: 5-9Wt: 179 Season Stats: 4 GP, 5g-6a11 ptsComment:You know youre having a great start when you have the weekend off and youre still the nations leading scorer. Flanagans 11 points keeps him a point ahead of four other players. A weekend Billy Turner Jersey series against Alabama-Huntsville could give Flanagan a chance to distance himself from the pack as the Chargers have allowed four or more goals in all but one of their games so far. It may be an insignificant series in the grand scheme of things, but Flanagan will need every point he can get to solidify his Hobey case.2. Johnny Gaudreau Boston CollegePosition: ForwardCla s: SophomoreHt: 5-7Wt: 150Season Stats: 5 GP, 3g-4a7 ptsComment: Gaudreau has yet to be held off the scoresheet this season, posting at least one point in each of BCs five games. Along with Pat Mullane, who is actually BCs team leader with eight points, and Steven Whitney, Gaudreau is part of one of the most potent lines in the country. All three of Gaudreaus goals this season have been meaningful, including two game-winners. He has a penchant for coming through in the clutch. His consistency in productivity and seemingly endle s offensive upside is why he moves up the list this week.3. Nick Bjugstad MinnesotaPosition: ForwardSchool:MinnesotaCla s: JuniorHt: 6-4Wt: 204 Season Stats: 5 GP, 3g-2a5 ptsComment: It was a quiet weekend for Bjugstad, with the Gophers playing Chris Blair Jersey just one regular-season game. Bjugstad notched his second a sist of the year in a 1-0 win over Canisius to remain a point-per-game player. Though it was a bit of a power outage for the Gophers potent offense, dont expect that to be the norm. Bjugstad and linemate Kyle Rau continue to click, making them one of the most devastating combos in the country.4. Nick Shore -- DenverPosition: ForwardCla s: JuniorHt: 6-0Wt: Za'Darius Smith Jersey 190Season Stats: 4 GP, 4g-5a9ptsComment:Shore has been a catalyst for Denvers 4-0-0 start, posting points in each game so far. Shore quietly had 41 points as a sophomore last season, but was overshadowed by brother Drew and Jason Zucker, who ended up signing pro contracts after last year. Losing two big guns like that required returnees to step up and no ones done it better than Nick Shore. The Pioneers will put their perfect record on the line this weekend against St. Cloud State.Others to watch:Brett Gensler -- F -- Jr. -- BentleyPat Mullane -- F -- Sr. -- Boston CollegeMark Zengerle -- F -- Jr. -- WisconsinAlex Guptill -- F -- So. -- Michigan Greg Carey -- F -- Jr. -- St. Lawrence
